About Archdeacon Motors
In 1979 Matthew Archdeacon set up a vehicle servicing and repair business based in the back yard of his fathers pub in Cambridge. His aim was to provide a quality, affordable service for all. No job was too small and no one was laughed at for owning an 'old banger'! Very quickly is became clear that there was a much larger market for this type of service and soon Matthew began to search for larger premises. Sadly, the pub, called The Cow and Calf, closed a few years later and has recently been torn down. This photograph shows the demolished building and the lean-to shed where Archdeacon Motors began.
At the new premises Matthew set about building his garage himself. The plot seemed huge in comparison to the pub garage and was nothing but rubble. Using his expanding network of friends and business contacts the new garage began to take shape. These old photographs show the building work in progress. After 6 months of hard work the new and improved Archdeacon Motors was ready for it's first customers.
Over the years the business has continued to expanded and Archdeacon Motors now occupies 4 consecutive units on the estate. But the original goal of supplying a quality, affordable service to all is still very much the company mission. Archdeacon Motors has grown into what is probably the largest independent car service and repair business in Cambridge.
Archedeacon Motors stands out from the rest because of the fast, friendly and efficient service they provide. If you would like to contact us for more information please feel free to e-mail us. |
